Lovingly cared for...
It all began with a passion for animals and a small, tricolor sheltie named Andy. It was through her obedience training with Andy during the late 1950s that Mary Temple first discovered her love for Shetland Sheepdogs.

Though taking time to marry and raise a family, Mary never forgot her passion for dogs. As a result, the Temple family always found a friend in various dog breeds throughout the years. From Irish Setters to German Shepherds and a variety of mixed breeds, there was no limit to what form the Temple family pet would take.

During the 1980s and nineties, Mary renewed her interest in pure bred dogs, raising boxers for pets and breeding. It was during this period that Mary realized the importance of registered dogs in regard to personality, temperament, and intelligence. As her boxers aged, Mary began to reevaluate her breeding system. Andy played on her memories, and Makat's Kennels was created in 1994 with the purchase of Makat's Mission Impossible--a small, tricolor sheltie called Murphy.

Throughout the past decade, Makat's Kennels has expanded in size, featuring shelties of various colors, and personalities. However, Mary's dogs still remain quality pets for her family, sharing the space in her home. Each dog is registered through the American Kennel Club and retains purebred status, often featuring an ancestry of champions and working dogs.

Each puppy sold through Makat's Kennels is lovingly cared for and given plenty of attention. As one of the smartest breeds in the world, Shetland Sheepdogs thrive under these conditions--quickly learning and developing their unique, individual personalities under the guidance of human caregivers. Mary Temple and Makat's Kennels utilize the Shetland Sheepdog's breed qualities to perpetuate quality pets and beautiful dogs.
